Deliveries Can Be Full of Surprises
Meet Jesse O’Donnell. Jesse is a delivery driver at our Madison location and has been for 29 years.
While one might think that being a delivery driver might become routine over the years, you would be wrong. The job of a delivery driver is full of surprises.
Jesse was on a delivery in Banco, Virginia when caught in the infamous Madison County Flood of 1995. The flood lasted from June 25 to 27 and cost three people their lives and millions of dollars in damage. Luckily, Jesse was okay: he was rescued via airlift!
That is to say nothing of the dangers Jesse navigates in the homes of contractors. He’s had to do everything from set beams on job sites, set pianos on second and third stories, drove backward down an 8/10-mile driveway, and even participated in a break-in: a heroic one, of course. A contractor’s two-year-old daughter had locked herself in the family home. With Jesse’s help, they were able to break her out.
Jesse also has a handle on the essential things in life. Asked how he likes to spend his free time, he responded that he “enjoy[s] spending time with [his] friends and family – [his] kids and two granddaughters.” As if family life didn’t offer enough opportunity to test your wit and problem-solving skills, he also tests that at home. He enjoys putting together 1000 + piece jigsaw puzzles when he’s not at work. Even when off duty, Jesse solves problems.
