We’re looking for a motivated Sales Floor Associate who enjoys working with people, keeping merchandise organized, and helping customers find the right products for their projects.

What You’ll Do:

  • Interact with vendors, under the guidance of the Store Manager, to rotate inventory and displayed items to optimize sales and profitability.
  • Ensure that all items for return are properly labeled and returned for store credit.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Manager in regards to labeling and discounts for low volume/discontinued items.
  • Communicate any shortages of product appropriately with Purchaser and Inventory Manager.
  • Restock merchandise on showroom floor.
  • Maintain clean and dust free shelves and product within assigned area.
  • Keep floors swept and free of debris within assigned area.
  • Consult with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise.
  • Demonstrate and explain merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for the customer’s needs.
  • Answer customer’s questions about merchandise and assist with purchase decisions.
  • Retrieve merchandise from sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations, places special orders.
  • Answer phone calls directed to the paint room.
  • Tint paint upon request and color match.
  • Receive orders and reconcile with invoice.
  • Fill delivery tickets.
  • Complete inventory maintenance reports on a weekly basis including the Shoot the Outs document and turns it into purchaser and management.
  • Cross-train in other departments.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in the showroom.

Cardinal Home Center has an immediate opening for a qualified Sales Associate on our Madison sales team. The Sales Associate is responsible for assisting walk-in and call-in customers with sales transactions and special orders. Sales Associates are eligible for commission based on achieving certain individual sales goals.

Salary Range: $17.00 to $22.00 Hourly

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consult with walk-in and call-in customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise.
  • Complete in-stock sale transactions.
  • Complete special orders for customers.
  • Complete take-offs and quotes for customers for building components.
  • Develop knowledge of doors and windows and sales skills by completing online courses.
  • Attend supplier learning courses and plant tours on occasion to increase product knowledge.
  • Develop relationships with contractors to increase sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in the showroom.

We are hiring for a gatehouse associate! The incumbent will oversee customer flow in and out of the Lumber Yard and work with the Central Dispatcher to ensure timely deliveries.

Salary Range: $17.00 to $20.00 Hourly

Responsibilities:

  • Meet customers at the gate and provide directions to the appropriate area to receive their purchased products.
  • Provide traffic control to help ensure driver and vehicle safety as they navigate the Lumber Yard.
  • Communicate via 2-way radio with Yard staff to help ensure customers are met at the appropriate pick-up point and assisted properly.
  • Receive signed paperwork from the customer at the gate and ensure proper quantities were loaded into the customer’s vehicle.
  • Print customer tickets and invoices and place them in the appropriate delivery boxes for Drivers.
  • Scan signed paperwork into Spruce to ensure proper inventory tracking.
  • Communicate with Sales Staff, Store Managers, Yard Managers, and the Central Dispatcher regarding changes to the delivery board, and ensure those changes are reflected on the board.
  • Attend staff meetings as necessary.
  • Support the receiving department, gatehouse, and yard as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers regarding deliveries and sales instructions.
  • Communicate effectively with Store Managers proactively to ensure delivery needs are met.
  • Escalate any delivery or service concerns to the Store Managers and Corporate Yard Manager in a timely manner.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Must follow all safety requirements and convey high safety standards on the job. 
  • Must be able to work without close supervision.
  • Must communicate with the Yard employees and other Cardinal staff in a professional manner.
  • Must have excellent attendance.
  • Basic computer skills to include Email and Microsoft Office.
  • Spruce system knowledge is a plus

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. 

Schedule:

40 hours per week, including five days per week and working every other weekend. To achieve 40 hours, and because of limited store hours on Saturdays, shifts may vary to include: 6:45 AM to 4:15 PM, 6:45 AM to 3:45 PM, and Saturday 7-12 PM.

Salary Range: $16.00 to $19.00 Hourly

This role is essential in ensuring timely, accurate delivery of building materials while providing exceptional customer service. Our drivers do more than transport products—they represent Cardinal at every job site and play a key role in keeping our customers’ projects moving forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate CDL-class vehicles, including Moffett forklifts, boom trucks, box trucks, and flatbed dump trucks
  • Load and secure building materials to ensure safe and efficient transport
  • Plan and follow delivery routes and schedules to meet customer expectations
  • Navigate and maneuver trucks in residential and commercial job sites
  • Unload and place materials in designated areas using proper equipment
  • Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with customers on-site
  • Communicate customer feedback and job site information to the sales and operations teams
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-maintained vehicle
  • Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and DOT requirements

Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required
