Employee Spotlight: Mark Dolan, Yard Supervisor, Madison

At Cardinal Home Center, our team is the heart of everything we do. This month, we’re excited to spotlight Mark Dolan, who has been a part of the Cardinal family for an impressive 21 years.

A Little About Mark
Mark was born and raised in Oakland, California, and graduated from California High School in San Ramon. He’s also called St. George, Utah, and Reno, Nevada, home. Before joining Cardinal, he gained valuable experience in masonry, stucco, and lumber yards—skills that have served him well in his career here.

Mark’s Journey at Cardinal
Starting in the yard, Mark has worked in nearly every role, including Shed 4, receiving, and loading trucks. Today, he serves as the Yard Supervisor at our Madison location. His typical day involves pulling orders, loading and unloading trucks, and helping wherever he can to keep things running smoothly.

What He Loves About His Job
Currently, Mark finds satisfaction in traveling to other stores to assist with their yards. Mark takes pride in maintaining and organizing and especially enjoys helping customers he’s come to know over his 21 years at Cardinal.

Challenges and Lessons Learned
Managing the yard comes with its challenges, especially keeping up with orders, trucks, and ensuring everything is accurate. One of the most important lessons Mark has learned is that efficiency matters—when trucks aren’t loaded and on the road, business slows down.

Mark’s Free Time
When he’s not at work, Mark enjoys playing cards and horseshoes, watching football, and spending time with his fiancée.

Advice for Industry Newcomers
Mark’s advice for anyone considering a career in the lumber or building supply industry? “Be good in math, learn your materials, and pay attention to details.”

Mark is happiest when he’s relaxing at home or just chilling.
