Austyn Wells, Driver for Cardinal Home Center

Meet Austyn Wells, a delivery truck driver at Cardinal Home Center in Madison for over nine years. For Austyn, the best part of his job is his friendship with fellow employees and being on the road, experiencing different places and situations daily.

Every day on the job is different for Austyn. As a delivery truck driver, he faces numerous challenges, especially when delivering to job sites that are not very accessible. Austyn must figure out how to maneuver in tight spaces with obstacles such as power lines, trees, and small driveways. These challenges are just a part of his job, and he approaches them positively, knowing that he will always learn something new.

One of his most memorable experiences was when he noticed a dump truck’s brakes had caught on fire while driving down the road. After getting the driver to stop, Austyn responded quickly, using his fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire.

Aside from his job as a delivery truck driver, Austyn is also an active member of the Madison County Volunteer Fire Department. He has been with the department for six years and was promoted to lieutenant a little over a year ago. He enjoys helping others in their time of need, fighting fires, and driving fire trucks. Austyn was even voted fireman of the year in 2021 by his fellow fire department members.

In his free time, Austyn likes to do side jobs with his friend, such as landscaping and mowing grass in the spring and summer. Austyn is a hard-working and dedicated individual who enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and positively impacting his community.

Austyn’s story is a reminder that every day is an opportunity to learn something new and face challenges head-on. Whether on the road or fighting fires, Austyn approaches every situation positively and is willing to help others.
