Chalkboard Paint From Benjamin Moore
With some schools moving to a virtual format, it can be harder than ever to keep your kids entertained, all while managing busy schedules and keeping up around the house. Cardinal Home Center offers a perfect solution – chalkboard paint from Benjamin Moore. It will not only transform a space but could also be an outlet for creativity and a new way to keep your family organized!
Benjamin Moore‘s ben® Chalkboard Paint is acrylic-based, tintable topcoat that turns virtually any interior surface into a chalkboard. Available in virtually any color, this product is for interior use on previously painted surfaces.
You can use Chalkboard paint in a variety of applications; maybe you want to leave notes for your loved one on the back of a door, or paint an area near your home office to put reminders and cut down on sticky notes, or in a playroom to give endless fun and creativity for your kids. The possibilities are endless! This product is also perfect for restaurants and retail spaces to advertise specials or menus.
What you’ll need to get started:
- ben® Chalkboard Paint
- Primer
- Plastic paint tray
- Wooster roller covers
- Paint roller
- Painter’s tape
Step 1: Mask off an area where you want your chalkboard to be.
Step 2: Prime your wall with either regular or a magnetic primer. For a darker chalkboard, you will want to use a gray primer.
Step 3: Shake up your paint if it has been longer than a week since purchasing your paint.
Step 4: Apply this paint as you would normally paint. Try to make V-shaped strokes for an even finish.
Step 5: Apply at least two coats, maybe 3 if needed, with at least four hours in between coats. Wait 72 hours after applying your final coat.
Step 6: Season the surface with chalk by turning it on its side and cover your entire wall, rubbing the chalk evenly. Then, wipe with a damp cloth.
Keep in mind that after this is finished, it will never look like a freshly painted wall. Visit Benjamin Moore’s Color Viewer to review the colors available and we’ll mix it up for you!
