Employee Spotlight: Bill Blevins, Sales Associate – Madison

Step right up and meet Bill Blevins, a familiar and friendly face behind the counter at our Madison store! Bill joined us in 2023, but his journey here is anything but ordinary.

Growing up on a cattle farm in Loudoun County, Bill’s roots are firmly planted in the outdoors. He loves fishing, hunting, and foraging, and is a proud dad to four amazing kids. You might even catch him on the baseball field playing for the Green-Madison Minute Men!

So, how does a charge nurse from Reston end up in building supply sales? Bill openly shares that 2021 was a tough year, leading him to reevaluate. But for Bill, the transition was smoother than you’d think. “As a charge nurse, I dealt with all the reps and vendors for the OR, ordered medical equipment, and coordinated schedules. I carried three phones and answered a hundred calls a day,” he explains. “It’s pretty similar here at Cardinal with our reps, vendors, and contractors.”

A typical day for Bill involves a flurry of phone calls, emails, helping customers, ordering materials, and interacting with everyone who walks through our doors. He’s rapidly expanded his knowledge across almost every department, but he’s not afraid to lean on his colleagues when a question is outside his scope.

Whether you’re a contractor or a homeowner, Bill treats everyone with the same kindness and respect. “Their needs might be slightly different, but everyone wants to feel valued,” he says, highlighting Cardinal’s commitment to customer service. What he loves most about his customer-facing role is meeting so many people in the community. “There’s never a time I’m out and about that I don’t run into someone I met from working the counter at Cardinal,” he shares.

The biggest surprise in his career switch? “Lead times! Things in construction don’t move as urgently as in the medical world,” he laughs. But one constant for Bill at Cardinal is the unwavering focus on our customers. “Our customers come first, and we want them all to feel important and respected.”

Being part of the Madison team means being a big part of the community he calls home. Bill feels like he’s met everyone in Madison through Cardinal, and he finds that truly amazing.

Outside of work, you’ll find Bill with his kids, playing ball, spending time with his fiancée, hiking, fishing, and staying active in his church. And for a fun surprise? Bill has traveled the world, participated in medical clinics in third-world countries, and even rode on Nickelback’s tour bus when he lived in Arizona!

For Bill, happiness is about success, making someone smile, helping someone in need, and getting hugs from his kids. We’re lucky to have such a dedicated and warm individual on our Cardinal Home Center team!
