Employee Spotlight: Emma Wood, Sales Floor Manager at Lake Anna

Meet Emma Wood, our incredible Sales Floor Manager at the Lake Anna store! A lifelong resident of Orange, VA, Emma brings a wealth of retail management experience to our team. She has a big family, with four grown children and four grandchildren, and is about to celebrate a special milestone—her 50th birthday on September 27th!

Emma admits that she has learned a great deal about lumber and building materials since joining Cardinal. “I also have a much greater knowledge of paint and sundries,” she shares. Emma appreciates the camaraderie at Cardinal, saying, “Everyone makes sure they are available at all times to assist with any questions. All the employees are willing to jump in and offer their assistance. They really are like a huge family.”

Her day consists of a dynamic blend of tasks essential for keeping the store running smoothly. As Sales Floor Manager, Emma’s responsibilities range from customer interactions and merchandising to ordering, stocking, and mixing paint. She excels at multitasking and enjoys helping other departments whenever possible.

Emma has a particular passion for merchandising. “I am a little OCD when it comes to merchandising and can spot something that needs to be fixed from a mile away,” she admits. This attention to detail ensures that the store is always organized and welcoming for customers, making it one of her favorite aspects of her job.

When she’s not at the store, you might be surprised to find that Emma spends her “free time” handcrafting and selling Lake Anna pottery right in our Lake Anna store. She is truly an entrepreneur.

Despite her busy schedule, Emma finds peace and happiness in simple pleasures. “I am the happiest when sitting outside on fall mornings, drinking my coffee and listening to the birds before starting my day.” This routine allows her to prepare for the hustle and bustle ahead.
