Punxsutawney Phil predicted 6 more weeks of winter last Tuesday – oh yes – it’s FEBRUARY and even here in Virginia it’s going to be cold for a while longer. The time spent indoors can be valuable and can allow you to make some much-needed improvements inside your home. Here are our top four Home Improvement projects for February!

Paint trim or other smaller paint projects

Changing your trim color can be a quick and easy way to change the look of any room. You can choose to go with a classic white to accent your room, or if you want something that is dirt-resistant, try color to make it pop! Use Benjamin Moore’s Fresh Start Primer and either Aura Semi-Gloss or Regal Select, both of which can be mixed to any color you desire. Use a 1-½” or 2-½” brush, and fill in any gaps with caulk. Prepare the surface and sand if your surface has a glossy finish, and then apply primer and paint. Need help finding the right color or have something in your home you’d like to match? Refurbish your kitchen cabinets

Provide a fresh look to your kitchen by easily painting and adding new hardware! We recommend using a degreaser first to ensure your cabinets are clean. Then, sand your cabinets and apply either Benjamin Moore’s INSL-X or an oil-based primer. Benjamin Moore’s ADVANCE can provide the perfect color, and our team can match any color you would like.

Create a kitchen cabinet organizer

Have too many pots and pans in your drawers? Can’t seem to find the lid you need? It’s easy to create your own organizer! We recommend using Radiata Pine or a finger-joined pine product to support the weight. Measure your drawer’s size first, then attach the pieces you need using either screws or wood glue. For low drawers, build up the sides to hold more.

Re-grout your tile

Attention to detail makes all the difference, and something a simple as the look of your tile can make your bathroom sparkle. You can also prevent water damage in your bathroom, and it is very budget-friendly. Remove as much grout as possible and remove all dust. Mix an appropriate amount of grout and let sit for 10 minutes. Caulk the tub-tile joint, and then seal the grout after 48 hours to allow it to dry.
