Rethink Storage
From reworking your closet space to finally tackling the garage or basement, storage and organization in your most demanding working areas will always pay off. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Pegboard isn’t just for the garage.
A home office or crafting space could benefit from a peg wall. Get creative and paint it in different colors. Outfit a wall in your laundry room and hang cleaning supplies, brooms, and more. Pro tip: you can also cut down your pegboard into a smaller size for compact organization in tight spaces.
A shower rod for boots
When organizing your closet, don’t forget to look up. A lot of closets have wasted space just above our reach. Consider hanging a shower rod above a door frame, purchasing boot hanger clips, and hanging taller boots. Shower rods can also be used as a second level of organization in your closet, perfect for other shoes, accessories, or added storage for clothes.
Rethink kitchen storage
Look around to see how you can maximize your storage and maybe even provide some design to your space. Coffee drinker? Turn the side of your cabinet into a coffee mug storage space with some cup hooks and painted plywood. Reduce bulky packaging in cabinets by using storage jars and baskets and keep the rest in the pantry. Change your shelf heights in your cabinets to add room for some more items, and add small lazy Susan shelving to make it easy to get to the items you need.
Wire shelving
Hang wire shelves on the side and back wall in a pantry or closet. Look for under-shelf baskets to maximize space. Consider over the door shelving on the backside of a door.
Organize your tools
Build simple inserts to hold screwdrivers—Command Hooks for tape and hoses. For smaller accessories such as screws and nails, use clear jars to make it easier to find what you need. Hang magnetic strips to keep things organized for all those little items that tend to disappear. Drill bits and smaller tools stay at close reach. If you have a workbench in a garage or shed, create holders for hand tools like screwdrivers by using some scrap wood. Tool bags are also great if you need to take tools quickly on the go.
Milwaukee Packout Crates
Consider making a wall in your tool shop or garage for easily accessible storage. Did you know our Milwaukee Packout Crates not only stack but also hang? These crates are impact-resistant, and each crate can hold up to 50 pounds.
Use the ceiling
Ceiling-mounted shelving is excellent for storing holiday décor and other items used infrequently. Use ceiling hooks spaced out evenly to add storage – be sure to check weight requirements on packaging and secure your items with bungee cords to avoid any items from falling.
